A Grandmother's Prayer
Dear God,
You have almighty power in your hands.
Thank you for every one of my dear grands!
Thank you for guiding them along the way.
May they acknowledge your blessings every day.
Lord, hold them safely with each strong arm;
Let this world do no harm.
Your power and strength I want them to know.
Let thy goodness and mercy overflow.
Allow each one to be trained in the Way they should go,
So, "when they are older they will not depart from it."
May there be a desire to serve you and never quit.
Oh, Lord, thank you for keeping my grandchildren in your loving care.
This is a grandmother's humble prayer.
Amen.
Grandmother's Love
Grandmother's love hugs and squeezes with all her might.
Grandmother's love takes your hand and holds it tight.
Grandmother's love gives a good treat.
Grandmother's love makes her lap a comfortable seat.
Grandmother's love tells stories and reads books.
Grandmother's love admires her grandchild's cunning looks.
Grandmother's love buys toys and other stuff.
Grandmother's love is gentle and a little tough.
Grandmother's love is so very clever.
Grandmother's love will last forever!
Grandparents
Grandparents give great gifts to grandchildren.
They are thoughtful, and we are thankful for the thousands of things they do.
We're hysterically happy for grandparents who are heroes and
have huge hugs, helpful hands, and humble hearts.
Remember: This is an alliterative poem. Alliteration occurs when words in a
phrase or sentence are in a row or close to a row and have the same first consonant
sound.
Visiting with Our
Grandparents
We each want to jump up in our seat
As we turn onto our grandparents' street.
We are always so excited!
Our grandparents seem delighted!
First, they give us a hug and a kiss.
We hear how much we have been missed.
In the kitchen, we quickly look
To see what our grandparents are preparing to cook.
We get a snack or a treat
And wait until the food is ready to eat.
Grandma shares stories, reads books, and plays games.
She does so many activities, we can't say the names.
Grandma is like a friend.
She plays along when we want to pretend.
Whenever we sing a song,
If she knows the words, she sings along.
When Grandma is in the groove,
She shows us a dance move.
At times when we only want to play
She makes us study and learn anyway.
When our behavior is not very good,
She gets onto us like a grandma should.
There are times when it does not seem right;
Because we are told we must say good night.
Once we get into our beds,
Grandma pats our backs and rubs our heads.
When you do not hear a peep,
It's because we've fallen fast asleep!
Grand-daddy spends time with us as well.
Sharing all that he does would take too long to tell.
Grand-daddy helps to make us spoiled.
He even cleans us up when we are soiled.
Our favorite cartoon, he often picks.
He finds good movies on Netflix.
We could stay outside for hours,
Helping him paint, wash cars, or plant flowers.
People might think we are in the way.
That is not what Grand-daddy would say.
He comes to get us if we need a ride.
There is so much joy our grandparents provide.
We play with toys and bathe with our shark.
At our grandparents' house, we have fun with Uncle Marq.
Rarely outside, but always inside,
He takes us on an airplane ride.
He gives us love and care,
Lifts us in the air,
Teaches us how to play ball,
Picks us up when we fall,
Shares candy, drinks, wings, and fries;
His goodies are always a great surprise!
He lets us listen to a beat.
We do our dance and move our feet.
Sometimes we want to go where-ever he may be.
If we whine, he says, "Stop acting like a baby!"
When we want him to play with us more,
Uncle Marq walks out the door.
We try to follow every track.
He quickly says, "I'll be right back."
When our daddy comes for us, we box with him and play fight.
He says, "Guys, it's time to go." We try to miss our flight.
It's always fun to spend the night.
CHAPTER 2
A Morning Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank you this morning for opening my eyes.
I am thankful I can see the sunrise.
Thank you for letting people work and play.
Thank you Lord, for a brand-new day.
Amen.
A Bedtime Prayer
Dear Lord,
It is bedtime, and I must not forget
To thank you for letting me see the sunset.
Thank you for keeping me safe night and day.
Thank you for listening when I pray.
God bless mommies, daddies, and grandparents, too.
God bless brothers and sisters, old and new.
God bless aunties, uncles, friends, and you know who.
God bless the whole world! Now, I'm through.

Saying Grace
Dear God,
With two fish and five loaves of bread, A
crowd of five thousand people were fed.
Thank you, God, for feeding me.

CHAPTER 3
A Haiku for You
Precious, handsome boy
Extremely blessed, healthy, loved
Our fine, first grandchild.
Remember: A haiku is a Japanese poem that does not rhyme.
There are only three lines in a haiku.
The first and last lines have five syllables.
The middle line has seven syllables.
Babies Grow Up
Babies babble before they talk.
Babies crawl before they walk.
Babies lay before they can sit.
Babies cry awhile before they quit.
Babies drink milk before they begin to eat.
Babies are given soft foods before they chew meat.
Babies grow as they go through each stage.
Babies are like me; they learn with age.
Happy Birthday
Each year on a special date,
Family and friends will celebrate.
There may be a party planned for you.
Playing games and having activities are great things to do.
Birthdays can be a lot of fun.
You open presents one by one.
Enjoy eating cake and ice cream.
Then, at bedtime, you may have a sweet dream!
A Time to Celebrate
What a super sensation!
There is going to be a celebration.
When you first stand alone on your feet,
Or take your first bite of meat,
When you start your first day at school,
Or learn to swim in the pool,
When you begin to write your name,
Or help your team win a game,
When you learn to ride a bike,
Or say your first speech on the mic,
When you go on your first date;
Especially when you graduate,
We will cheer you on and celebrate!
Good Manners
Having good manners is important.
Oh, how true!
There are some things you should do.
Keep your mouth closed while you quietly chew.
At the table, clean up for yourself when you are through.
Cover your mouth as you cough or sneeze.
When you ask for something, say, "Please."
Never say everything that comes to mind.
Be courteous, polite, nice, and kind.
Think ahead.
If there is something that must be said,
Try not to be abrupt.
Say, "Excuse me," if you must interrupt.
Young and old, everybody must learn. It is important to wait your turn.
Everyone should have good manners; not just a few.
When you are given something,
Say, "Thank you!"
Sharing
There was a selfish little boy
Who would not share his favorite toy.
A friend came over with chocolate chips.
The selfish boy licked his lips.
Then, he shared his toy and gobbled Chips Ahoy from Roy!
Remember: A limerick is humorous.
It has five lines.
The first two lines rhyme with the fifth.
The third and fourth lines rhyme.
Usually, the first line begins with, "There was a ..."
It ends by naming a place or person.
Friends
Friends are people who like each other.
They are willing to help one another.
With friends, you can sit around or go for a walk.
Together, friends can laugh and talk.
Friends are friendly.
Friends are fair.
Friends show how much they care.
Your friends can be girls and boys.
Friends share secrets, food, and toys.
True friends are people you can trust.
Treat your friends with kindness. You simply must!

See the world as it is or appear to be blind.
Concerning your life, you have a voice.

I am different from everyone else.
I have a peculiar name.
People who look alike are different.

When they plan to do wrong,

CHAPTER 4
Brotherly Love
I do not get along with my brother.
He makes me so mad!
Sometimes, he does not share with me,
Then, I feel very sad.
I do not get along with my brother.
He yells at me every day.
He hits me and takes my toys.
It upsets me when I'm trying to play.
I do not get along with my brother.
He says things that are not true.
He blames me for everything!
Mom and Dad never have a clue.
I do not get along with my brother.
He is always in my face;
Whenever I want to be alone,
I find him in my space.
I do not get along with my brother.
Sometimes he's right. Sometimes he's wrong;
But our love for each other is really strong.
Sure, he does things that are bad.
Still, he is my brother and I am very glad.
He is the best brother I have ever had!
My Sister is Sick
My sister always takes a pill.
She is really very ill.
She screams out in a lot of pain.
Sometimes it drives me insane.
Mom and Dad are always there
Comforting her and giving great care.
I think about it, but never mention
Feeling like she gets all the attention.
Quite often I feel it just isn't fair.
Wait a minute!
My sister is the one lying there. She has to sit in that wheelchair.
Sometimes she may want to trade places with me;
To run, jump, ride a bike, or just feel free!
I must be considerate in my thoughts and actions, too.
It seems difficult when I think of what she goes through.
Now that I have thought about it, I understand.
I'll give her a hand. If my sister needs help, I will do what I can.
That's Our Girl
Pony tails and polished nails,
Bows, barrettes, and beads,
Soft hands and smooth knees,
A charming necklace and diamond earrings,
All sorts of beautiful things;
A lovely bracelet around her wrist,
A small pocketbook clutched in her fist,
Outfits of pink and yellow, too;
Even green and baby blue,
Dressed with a dainty look,
Like a fairy in a storybook;
What a pearl! That's our girl!
In the kitchen with Dad, learning to bake
Cookies, pies, and red velvet cake,
Spending special moments with Mommy near,
Making wonderful memories to hold dear;
More valuable than a diamond,
More precious than a pearl;
We are pleased to say, "That's our girl!"

Imagine a father feeling like a king;

Boys Have Fun
Run boys run!
Run and have fun.
Run and play under the sun.
Run boys and play with your toys.
Have fun making noise.
You can make loud sounds
While running around on the playground.
That's not all.
You can run and play ball;
Climb a tree but not a wall.
Be careful! Do not fall.
Get permission from parents or don't climb at all.
Indoors, watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and other cartoons
Like Sponge Bob and Looney Tunes.
Go fishing with an adult. Catch bass or trout.
Now, that's what having fun is all about.
