- Libro 7 di 8: The Temporal Witnesses
Their teacher has forgotten who they are. The journey happens anyway.
Dr. Sarah Crow Feather held a temporal connection open long enough to bring Cuchu Ramirez and Matias Kim home from medieval Great Zimbabwe, and it cost her fifteen years of memory. She does not recognise them. She does not remember the network she spent those years holding together. And in six days the Patrimony Foundation 2.0 launches Project Reset, which will rewrite what a generation is allowed to know about the human past.
One journey is still on the schedule she left behind. Three civilizations, forty-eight hours, and nobody to anchor them.
Three Civilizations. Forty-Eight Hours. No Teacher.
MACHU PICCHU, PERU: A royal estate on a ridge in the cloud forest, wet all day. Astronomers keep a record in knotted cord longer than anyone alive to read it, and argue their way to next year’s planting schedule while a condor’s shadow crosses the quipu. The labour the empire is owed is owed. What they argue about is the schedule.
MESA VERDE, COLORADO: Rooms stacked three storeys under a sandstone alcove, built so that everyone can hear everyone. Three years of light rains have emptied the reserves, and the water council will take as long as it takes, because a decision reached faster collapses faster.
ANGKOR, CAMBODIA: Reservoirs, channels and gates moving water to three quarters of a million people. The king’s name is cut into the great reservoir and his officials count what comes out of it, and the gates are opened by an exhausted coordinator who is late to every meeting and who keeps forty-seven districts talking to each other.
They come back forty-eight minutes later to a warehouse lit by emergency lamps. Project Reset launched while they were gone, the raid comes at dawn, and the three gifts they were given have faded out of their pockets on the way home.
What comes home is what they saw, and the people they can tell.
Perfect for fans of: Ursula K. Le Guin’s ethical complexity, Kim Stanley Robinson’s environmental vision, and anyone who wants to know what a working city built out of water and agreement actually looked like.

Descrizione dello Store
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
