This hardcover book is square and tight. The boards and spine show minor wear to the edges and extremites, mostly at the upper and lower edge of the spine. The gilt/lettering and illustrations are bright and legible, without significant loss. The pages are very mildly toned, having no markings or folds. There is a dampstain to the edges of the first three pages (free end page - table of contents). There are several areas of cloth scuffing and threadbare spots to the front board near the fore-edge. Prior owner signature on free end page. Still a wonderful copy, attractive on the shelf, and with a nice "heft" in the hand. This is the second book of the renowned series. This title is not the last in the list opposite the table of contents, a later printing.
