The book is a work of experience, practice and research on contemporary issues in project management. In a clean swoop and erudite scholarship, it examines why the mechanism invented to improve project management has proved abortive or ineffective, the factors that trigger the failure of these techniques to improve success, and how the advantage of turning innovative technologies into tools and make diligent use of it will increase project management efficiency. Disruptive and emerging technology is driving innovation that will eventually question or even displace established project management methodologies, frameworks, and tools that have been in practice for decades. Furthermore, the complexity of the world we live in coupled with the ever-expanding amount of information available to us dictates the need for project leaders rather than project managers — a role that can influence organizations, not just one that can shadow established methodologies and frameworks. This book is an attempt to disrupt the traditional structure, realign it in a way that we take advantage of emerging technologies so that project success rate needle starts twitching upward. In this book, the author offers a restructure of the traditional framework, a realignment of it called Project Management Transformation Framework (PMTF) and Innovation Project Management Office (IPMO). The PMTF uses emerging technologies such as the Internet of things and artificial intelligence and discusses project leadership qualities such as communication, the ability to build a team that will put up efforts to achieve project objectives, and the ability to delegate responsibility to different team members according to their area of specialization, integrity, enthusiasm, compassion, calmness, and above all; the ability to defy all odds in finding solutions to the problems that pose as a threat to the success of the project. Without a proper framework built on a culture of transformation and a commitment to execution, methodologies, tools, and techniques are meaningless. Culture and commitment are not part of the game; they are the game. The framework is designed to re balance the workload by giving more direct responsibilities to the IPMO. It came to pass that this is speaking truth to power. The book is meticulously and adroitly developed in both length and breadth in a straightforward language. It goes further to reveal some of the salient points and raise posers to the questions which project leaders must ask themselves. The author has produced this educative and quite challenging tool which will stimulate discussions and debates among the general public more especially project leaders. This book is aimed to fulfill the yearnings of project leaders in finding solutions to why there is a continuous fail of project management despite all corrective steps or methods that have been used. Written in simple and compelling language, its rendition amply demonstrates the high grasp and appreciation of the subject. The value of this scholarly work is also enhanced by its successful attempt at domesticating the concepts to general context. From the preceding, therefore, this book is for all project management professionals and the general interest readers as well make bold to say that this book encapsulates all the solutions to various jigsaws that stare project management professionals in the face.
