Edna Holmes grew up, a country girl, the third one of ten children. The rich and varied experiences of her childhood are often referenced in her writing. She married her soldier home from the war at an early age and five years later they both became Christians through a personal faith in Jesus Christ. Their focus changed immediately. Years later her husband became the pastor of a church in Grapevine, TX. He would serve faithfully in that pastorate for forty-two years. Within those decades the church grew to be strong in their mission outreach: contributing to the support of many missionary families serving all over the world. Edna was privileged to travel with her husband to many countries as he visited the missionaries, encouraging them in their work. She learned from experience that Christian women all over the world, in all cultures, have the same basic needs and desires of the heart. Edna and her husband, Louis, are enjoying their older years as they continue to serve the Lord in speaking, encouraging young pastors and their wives in the ministry, and generally being of help where they are needed. Their chief joy otherwise is their family: children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
