Reading through the Scriptures as One Story The Scriptures give us God’s account of why he made this world and us in it. His account is, of course, a story—the most real and most true of all stories, but a story nonetheless—with a beginning, a middle and an end, a plot and lots of characters. And it makes the most sense when we read it as a story. Treasures Old and New leads you step-by-step through the marvelous narrative of God, God’s people and God’s world. Each lesson asks you questions that direct you back to the scripture, focusing your attention clearly on key points and showing you where to stop, think and dig deeper. Presenting the Scriptures in chronological order, lessons point out connections with earlier and later parts of the story. Or, as Jesus said, it brings out of the storeroom of Scripture “new treasures as well as old.” Four-Year Curriculum for Secondary Bible Classes Treasures Old and New is also ideal as a curriculum for Bible classes in second-ary or home schools. The question format facilitates Socratic dialogue in the classroom. And a brief teacher’s guide suggests essential principles and best practices for teachers as they help their students pray and read and think and talk their way through God’s word. Key Features • Leads students through the whole Bible in four school years • 450 Old Testament lessons • 150 New Testament lessons • Curricular design develops critical skills in analytical reading, reflective discussion and synthetic composition
