Set in Australia, from the east to west and back again; it pays to be prepared for a long drive. Particularly for competition pistol shooter, Darlene Adams. A champion rifleman is hunting her. Grit, fear and determination coagulate in her veins. She has to get home. She promised.

Ruthlessly ditched after being in a relationship for twenty years, Darlene Adams removes herself from public appearances to rediscover herself by working on a remote grain and cattle property. Two years later, she's out of work but retains the Queensland title of Pistol Champion. Now her eyes are on the National Titles being held in Western Australia.

Her beloved V8 Jeep gets transported to Perth in a sealed container and awaits her arrival while she drives a motorhome across the vast rugged land of Australia. Wrapping her slender hands around the prized gold-plated trophy is her goal.

Her favourite niece and another young woman are obscurely rescued from a kidnapping attempt in remote opal country, throwing a massive blanket of relief around Darlene's shoulders. A promise to be home for Christmas is just as critical as her accuracy.

A life-changing interaction with a former SAS sniper provides the perfect opportunity to hone her long-barrel shooting skills. In a race against time, Darlene must return to New South Wales in time for Christmas.
