A very funny story of an eventful -- and often calamitous -- career as a writer, advertising copywriter, freelancer, scriptwriter, ghostwriter and just about any other kind of scrivener who gets paid for tapping keys. It all began when Dick, then an audacious fourteen-year-old, duped a New York ad agency into giving him a freelance copywriting assignment by pretending to be a grown-up...and a professional writer. That precocious deception was the beginning of fifty years of nonstop writing. Dick churned out a torrent of TV scripts, magazine articles, websites, TV commercials, ghostwritten books, catalogs, ads, direct mail, videos and more. Including a cookbook that almost got him eaten by a bear. He snagged assignments on four continents and dozens of tropical islands, got glowing reviews from amazingly lenient critics and had more fun than he ever could at an honest job. Two Fast Fingers & 26 Keys exposes the ploys Dick perpetrated and the pitfalls he evaded in his life at a keyboard. The scoundrel is still getting away with his escapades. And loving every single minute of it.

Dick Harrison is a lifelong writer. He began writing professionally when he was fourteen and still hasn’t stopped more than a half century later. Books he has ghostwritten have been praised in publications including The New York Times, which called his writing “excellent…delightful…sensitive and perceptive.” He’s been honored with hundreds of creative awards. Dick has been a senior creative executive at leading communications organizations including McCann-Erickson, BBDO and Saatchi & Saatchi (which was called Compton at the time). As a freelancer he has written shows for PBS and The Discovery Channel; articles for magazines including Town and Country, Cosmopolitan and Field and Stream; and blogs, videos, ads, TV commercials, instructional materials, websites, catalogs, speeches, annual reports and more. Dick has lectured at universities from California to Puerto Rico, presented seminars on writing and creative technique and taught professional communications certification courses. Two Fast Fingers & 26 Keys is the first book he’s written with his own name on the cover.
