Informazioni sull'autore: Sofia Gubaidulina wurde 1931 in Tschistopol (Tatarische ASSR) geboren. Sie zählt zu den wichtigsten zeitgenössischen Komponisten Russlands. Sie absolvierte ihr Kompositionsstudium bei N. Peiko, einem Schüler von Schostakowitsch, am Moskauer Konservatorium. Eine Aspirantur bei Schebalin schloss sich an. Sie lebt in Moskau und wird heute neben Schnittke, Denissow uns Silwestrow weltweit zu den führenden Vertretern der Neuen Musik gerechnet. 1989 und 1990 besuchte sie Japan, wo ihre Werke ein hohes Ansehen genießen. Zu ihren bedeutenden Werken zählen ihr häufig aufgeführtes Violinkonzert "Offertorium, "Sieben Worte" für Violoncello, Banja und Streicher, das Oratorium "Stunde der Seele" und die sinfonischen Werke "Stimme...verstummen" und "Alleluja". Wie schon aus den genannten Titeln ersichtlich, spricht aus diesen Werken eine tiefe religiöse Überzeugung, die ihr gesamtes künstlerisches Schaffen bestimmt. In dieser Hinsicht steht sie den Komponisten Messiaen und Pärt nahe, von denen sie sich jedoch strukturell und klanglich wesentlich unterscheidet.
