Descrizione dell’articolo da parte del venditore

("Cy"), Hollywood, October 7, 1947. 4to, 4 1/2 pages (rectos only). $1,250.00 A long, important letter to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bolger at the Waldorf-Astoria Tower, giving insight into the development of the musical that became "Where's Charley": "This will bring you completely up to date regarding our recent Charley's Aunt activities. After lengthy discussion with [Harry] Warren and [Ralph] Blane.we finally discovered.that [Warren's] commitment at Metro would make it impossible for him to make a firm deal with us at this time.During this time we had been in touch with Harold Arlen.[who].decided that he would work only with Yip [Harburg] or Frank Loesser. His respect for Loesser's talent is tremendous. We brought them together and many conferences were held.It is perfectly obvious to all of us that a wonderful musical adaptation can be made of the property.I know that you hold Harold in extreme high regard. But, believe me.when I tell you that this man is not an idea guy.(quotes a letter from Arlen declining to participate in the musical adaptation of "Charlie's Aunt").Frank Loesser was brought into the situation at Harold Arlen's request. Now that Arlen is out, Loesser's interest continues.[he] has been willing to commit himself as lyricist providing we will give him a crack at the score as well. How are things going at the Carnival.I'm sure it rates a big hit, and if anyone can draw them into night clubs nowadays Ray's the guy. I read somewhere that you are thinking of going to England with 'Three To Make Ready' this spring.I'm sure you would just be paving the way for Ray's triumphal reappearance as 'Auntie'." Feuer (1911-2006), American director and producer; stage productions include "Guys and Dolls," "Can-Can," "Silk Stockings.".
