Gunter Mader, who holds a degree in engineering, is an architect in Ettlingen, Germany. He has taught the history of gardening art at the University of Applied Sciences, Nurtingen, and landscape design planning at the University of Applied Sciences, Karlsruhe. He has executed architecture and garden projects in Germany and other countries and is the author of numerous books and articles.
Elke Zimmermann, an engineer in landscape gardening who has collaborated on landscape gardening projects with Gunter Mader, lives in ltzlings, Germany, She studied in the United States and has worked in Switzerland and Australia. She writes for professional magazines and lectures on garden architecture.
