Thomas E. Barden, Professor of English at Toledo University, is the author of The Travles of Peter Woodhouse: Memoir of an American Pioneer and editor of Virginia Folk Legends (Virginia). Robert K. Phillips is Professor of English at Lander College, Greenwood, South Carolina.
