I was let go from the special sales department of Morrow in a reorganization. I was only out of work for a few weeks but during that time I went to the local branch of the public library every day with my brand new copy of What color is your parachute. I diligently worked my way through the book. Photocopying the work sheets. Filling in the petals of my flowers, listing my priorities. Discovering what I was accomplished at, my past successes. It was hard not to spend that time working the phone, having lunches. It was hard when my husband would come home from work and ask what did you do today. Somehow I knew that following this guide was important.
