What is the Family Proclamation? features a father explaining each concept in The Family: A Proclamation to the World to his inquisitive eight-year-old daughter. For parents and grandparents of young children, this book is vital during this critical time in history. The family is being attacked at an unprecedented level, and parents often don't know where to turn. The solution lies in "train[ing] up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6) We cannot keep our children from being exposed to false and dangerous philosophies no matter how hard we try to protect them. The question is, how do we prepare our children to be confident in who they are and what they believe?

This book is unique because it takes an inspired document and explains it in a way that is easy to understand for children of all ages. Though the Family Proclamation was published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, it is so important for children and adults everywhere to know the principles addressed. The Family Proclamation is sometimes criticized for teaching about the ideal family. This book holds to these true principles, while paying respect to family situations that may be different. As the first page states, "No one has a perfect family, and that's perfectly okay. We just try to be better each and every day."
