Wells (BD, University of London; ThM, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School; PhD, Manchester University, England; post-doctoral Research Fellow, Yale Divinity School) was for a number of years a member of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization. He was also a recipient of a major grant for Senior Scholars from the Pew Charitable Trusts. He is Distinguished Senior Research Professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a board member of the Rafiki Foundation.
