Riassunto:
The nutrition book vegans have been waiting for… And the one book all animal eaters should read too. Why Animals Aren't Food is the first comprehensive nutrition guide to name and shame the dozens of animal substances beyond cholesterol which injure us; the multiple mechanisms by which they maim us; the myriad parasites, bacteria and viruses with which they infect us; the environmental pollutants with which they contaminate us; and the many healing processes and vital nutrients they lack. Book 1 (Animals, Themselves) explains how "diseases" such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, five forms of blindness and vision loss, heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimer’s, acne, arthritis, MS, lupus and cancer are symptoms of eating animals (and junk), preventable, even reversible if we switch early enough to eating whole plants. Not a weight-loss manual, Why Animals Aren't Food contains the only 10 words of weight loss advice we'll ever need. When we eat ourselves healthy, ideal weight management follows automatically.
Informazioni sull?autore:
Since having a golf ball-sized tumor cut out of his brain in December 2009, Rohan Millson has devoted himself full-time to studying and writing about nutrition. He has certificates in plant-based nutrition from organizations headed by Prof. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. John McDougall and Dr. Neal Barnard. He immerses himself in the work of Dr. Michael Greger at www.nutritionfacts.org and has completed scores of Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits through the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), in conjunction with The George Washington University in Washington, DC. In total, the author has more than 120 hours of nutrition education and he’s spent more than 10,000 hours studying nutrition, preferring peer-reviewed journal papers to paperbacks and blogs and other pre-digested, secondary sources. The more he's learned about human health, the more he's come to see that our bodies have amazing healing power when we fuel them with whole plants, while eating animals and junked plants produces dire health outcomes. Rohan Millson is also a facilitator of The World Peace Diet, Dr. Will Tuttle’s life-affirming vehicle for planetary healing via “eating for spiritual health and social harmony.” A natural builder of straw bale and clay houses, he is currently secretary of Greyton Transition Town, the first such sustainable community in Africa, and helps his ex-wife, Nicky Vernon, to run the Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary, located on their shared, off-the-grid farm, Tabularasa. At the time of writing, the sanctuary is home to 16 sheep, 16 pigs, 2 geese, 1 cow, 3 dogs, 4 cats and 6 humans. Five years in the writing, Why Animals Aren’t Food is the author’s first book, long-delayed, partly because of the constant stream of new “sound science," and partly because he got sidetracked for a year, looking into the “sounds-like-science” of the frauds he calls Low-Carb Bullshit Artists. As a result, his second book is half written, and The Low-Carb Bullshit Artists Are Lying Us to Death should be out in mid-2016. Modern LCBAs such as Atkins, Taubes, Attia, Westman, Noakes, Fallon, Cordain, Lustig, Teicholz, Perlmutter, Davis and Volek feature prominently. The author enjoys teaching nutrition, both in schools and corporate settings, and relishes speaking in public and debating the topic. In his spare time, he is a keen but useless bass guitarist, kindly tolerated by the talented musicians in un-famous but coolly-named Cape Town rock band, Hard Rain.
