In this book the authors examine the marginal factors that so often separate success and failure in the world of sport. They show how the modern sportsperson can learn to incorporate important new methods into standard training programmes in an effort to achieve extra performance. They demonstrate how a natural approach to conditioning both the mind and body can help athletes realize potential without recourse to damaging and illegal drugs. Based largely upon their own experiences, the authors re-examine some well established techniques such as mental imagery and weight training, as well as explore more modern concepts including the uses of hydro-therapy and massage. From the basics of dietary regime and choice of footwear, to the authors' advanced ideas on the value of stretching exercises, the aim is simple - to give the athlete that all-important competitive edge.
