Winston is excited for an adventure but there’s just one problem: he’s afraid of flying!
From the busy airport and unfamiliar noises to takeoff, funny-feeling ears, and a few bumps in the sky, Winston discovers that flying can feel scary when you’ve never done it before. With Mom and Dad beside him, he learns simple ways to calm his body, ask questions, and take things one little brave step at a time.
Winston Is Afraid of Flying is a gentle, reassuring story from the Winston’s Fears Series, created to help children understand that feeling afraid is okay—and that courage can happen right alongside fear.
Along the way, children will learn about:
-
What to expect at the airport and on an airplane
-
Coping with unfamiliar sounds and sensations
-
Using slow breathing when they feel nervous
-
Asking a trusted grown-up for reassurance
-
Understanding turbulence and other normal parts of flying
-
Building confidence through small, manageable steps
And the fun continues after the story with interactive activities, including an airport Seek & Find, a maze to help Winston reach his gate, and a carry-on packing activity.
Perfect for children preparing for their first airplane ride, nervous flyers, families planning a trip, or any child learning how to face something new.
Because Winston discovers something very important:
Sometimes safe things can feel scary when they are new.
Being brave doesn’t mean you never feel afraid.
Sometimes bravery is taking one little step while holding someone’s hand.
