This Festschrift honours G�nter Stemberger on the occasion of his 75th birthday on 7 December 2015 and contains 41 articles from colleagues and students. The studies focus on a variety of subjects pertaining to the history, religion and culture of Judaism – and, to a lesser extent, of Christianity – from late antiquity and the Middle Ages to the modern era.

G�nter Stemberger z�hlt seit Jahrzehnten zu den bedeutendsten Judaisten der Gegenwart. Am 7. Dezember 2015 begeht er seinen 75. Geburtstag. Dies ist Anlass, ihn mit einer Festgabe zu ehren, die 38 Beitr�ge von FreundInnen, KollegInnen, Weggef�hrtInnen und Sch�lerInnen enth�lt. Sie befassen sich mit zentralen und aktuell intensiv diskutierten Themen zu Geschichte, Kultur und Religion des antiken und mittelalterlichen Judentums und Christentums. Darunter etwa zu biblischen Zeitperspektiven, zu Fragen der Mobilit�t des pal�stinischen Judentums, der Entstehung des Begriffs Christianoi oder der Gruppe der Judenchristen, der r�mischen Einstellung zum Judentum im 1. Jh., der Frage der Funktion eines wichtigen Midraschtextes wie Levitikus Rabba, der j�dischen Liturgie, dem Pijjut, oder der bahnbrechenden Neugestaltung j�discher Tradition durch den mittelalterlichen Yalkut.
