This book is very inspirational! The photos are beautiful and the instructions are very clear. I haven't yet made anything, but I know there will be a learning curve. I don't expect my first project to be as gorgeous as the ones in the book, but it won't be because of a lack of clear directions! I am a visual learner and there are lots of pictures so I feel that I will be able to follow along. I also own a couple of the author's needle felted creations and she is a true artist! --sewing blogspot dot com--I'm fairly new to wool felting, and this book has provided me with inspiration and confidence. The directions, enhanced by photos of each step of the felting process, are clear enough for a beginner to follow easily. The level of difficulty ranges from simple to complex, depending on the project - this book offers something for everyone. The sculptures are adorable - perfect for holiday decorating and nature tables. My young daughter loves to play with the sculptures I've created. I own several of the author's whimsical and beautifully detailed wool sculptures. Her talent shines in this book. --Craft Club--This book is terrific. The written directions are very clear, and the clear photographs show each stage. The author's encouragement to adapt the shapes to make animals of your own choice and color scheme helped this novice needlefelter craft some really cute creatures for our upcoming church fair. Highly recommended--Craft Club--Anyone can make cute and cuddly creatures from a handful of fluff and a barbed needle!Needle felting is a new craft and is gaining in popularity. There are only a few books written on the subject and most of those focus on 'flat' needle felting on a surface. This book is about sculptural needle felting - creating 3-D animals and figures using the felting needle to sculpt wool. The book shows the techniques and describes how the felting needle works with wool fiber to create felt, while explaining the differences between this art form and other forms of felting. The reader will learn how to hold the needle, what sort of materials to use, and why. --Craft Club
I am so thrilled that I ran across Laurie Sharp s Wool Pets. Not only does Laurie do amazing felting, but she carries a whole array of felting supplies and felting kits in her ETSY shop. Her blog 'Wool Pets' is filled with the most adorable little critters, dolls and many other felted goodies. Be sure to stop by wool pets and look over Laurie s amazing felting art. She also holds classes on felting, so check these out and look at the class creating adorable hummingbirds. --craft gossip dot com
If you love animals, this is a great technique and project manual, whether you are new to needle felting or more experienced. If you have never tried it before, the very basics are covered at the beginning, and the projects progress in skill level, so you don't need to feel daunted. There are very clear step-by-step photos and instructions throughout, making the projects very easy to follow. I love the bumblebee magnets (one of the first projects), and I love the swirls of the turtle's shell. The styling is a little whimsical, but still ideal for those who prefer a slightly more realistic aspect to the appearance of their crafts (rather than the current trend for quirky edginess). I have been a Civil War buff since grade school, and enjoy visiting battle fields, reading about the war, and discussing it with friends. Effetti del recesso
