Poetry Is................ "Words paint pictures for you to understand what is really in your soul." -Stylicia Bowden
Poetry Is Passion...............
Poetry is my passion and passion is my poetry Without the passion there is no poetry.
Life becomes empty without my best friend poetry.
We are connected together by the expressions of the pen.
It is a sin to separate us because without my poetry there is no passion.
Fire of words burn in my hand,
Thoughts of metaphors and similes run through my mind instantly.
Poetry is my passion and without this passion there is no poetry.
It becomes stagnant and stale with no essence to dwell on the inside of me. I lost my passion years ago but we reunited and I cannot give it up anymore. I do not have to search around because I refuse to let it go again.
I am nothing without my paper and pen.
Poetry Overdose I had an overdose I took to many pills of pleasure for my passion of poetry. I am an addict for those stanzas upon stanzas
Lyrics upon lyrics, Words connected to verbs to make metaphorical sentences. I had an overdose of emotions filled inside my heart. I had to sit up late and write and write until I became numb No blood could rush through my hand I used my pen until the ink ran dry I had an overdose of mental hemorrhages of words running through the brain Giving me headaches over and over again This obsession became fatal quickly. I need my supplier to give me what I needed more You may say I am an addict for those lyrical sensations of that poetry See, I had an overdose for my love of poetry.
Picture of Poetry How can I paint this picture of poetry?
Shall I begin with a stroke of the brush coloring my thoughts and my ambitions?
Abstract art hand painted from my mind to connect words from my inner man.
How can I begin to outline the shape and intricate details of this significant piece I entitled as my poetry?
I mix different colors together from my palette to smear out undefined thoughts that make no sense to me.
How can I paint you a picture of my poetry?
Should I use verbose words that you do not understand?
Or should I rhyme at the drop of a dime bringing flavor to display this canvas of poetry?
I am an artist ready to reveal the picture I painted of my poetry.
My heart is exposed for everyone to see a picture of myself defined by my poetry.
A work of art to my final piece as I paint a vivid picture of my poetry.
Provoking Thoughts of Poetry
How can I explain myself?
No one understands the soul of a writer's hand.
Some people may think I am crazy but understand
I take my poetry seriously
I am not just about the paper but with the pen I am in danger to become better than I was before
Stronger and wiser to do what I want to do
Poetry is my love
It is a breath of fresh air.
I am insane about my poetry.
No one loves my poetry the way I do.
I make love to become one to release my poetic vibe.
Poetry is real to me and so I can see the clear picture ahead of me.
Poetry is my number one fan especially when I put my pen in my hand.
Groove
You are the groove in my poetry.
You are the sway in my pen as I release a flow compressed within me.
You are my ink dark and mysterious dripping, leaking slow so my love can flow,
And I promise to not let you go.
You are a soft breeze in the wind when I sit under the tree to contemplate my next title to flow in
You are better than my favorite wine as I dine to combine my thoughts to make a sweet melody with lyrics of my poetry.
You are my love jones because you have it goin' on with those biceps and triceps bulging out from the uniform you wear.
You are my inspiration to continue to write for an overflow of manifestations of poetry.
You put the X in sexy and I cannot not imagine how my life would be without you at this point of no return.
I have put my feelings out there on a clothes line hanging dry hoping you would come to fold them up nice and neat to put them away in a secrete place.
I understand we are in distant places at the moment but when we are connected again you will be my pen and I will be your paper because without one there is no other.
Business Woman I should not have to hike up my skirt, unbutton my shirt
For you to take me seriously in this business I call my poetry
I should not have to lie on my back and open my legs for you at all
Just because I am a woman do not think I do not know how to do business.
Do not flirt with me when I expect you to take me seriously in this business I call my poetry.
Spoken word is words of fire and I have no need for you to hire me because I am my own boss
Do not think you are going to manage me when you see me perform my poetry.
All I ask is for you to embrace me and give me a chance and understand the words I speak are unique
I leave your mind anticipating my next move as I consume you with my words of wisdom bringing forth a collision in the spiritual and natural
Liquidating these elements together to bring chemistry between mind and soul.
I should not have to compromise my integrity and lower my ability of intelligence for you to want me to do what I have been ordained to do
So if you do not take me seriously in this business I call my poetry
Just remember I will not let you stop me because I am about my business that defines me and it is my Poetry.
The Spoken Word The spoken word is words to be said,
Words to be heard,
Words to have a meaning to the rhythm for the rhyme of verses they express;
Sharing, intertwining and combining thoughts of pleasure sometimes desire is confined to bring a little peace of mind.
When you can find that quality time to escape from the escapade of
Words of hurt that make you feel lower than dirt.
But then collisions of abnormal physics disturbs the psychotic catastrophe and it becomes a metamorphosis of words jumbled together to distribute elements of chemistry,
The Spoken Word..........
Words of Reality.
Chapter Two
Writers Inc. (Poetic Disciples) "Real writers come together to make a complete work of art." -Stylicia Bowden
The Writer in Me by LaTonya Wiggins You may not be able to see the writer in me But with a pen in hand You will then understand That the person you see Is more than what she appears to be? Sometimes bold and daring or sassy and free Spontaneously driven by my own curiosity Skillful to "turn it on" and "turn it off" without hypocrisy Being true to myself, I will never seize to be Determined to fulfill God's purpose and plan Means walking in wisdom, and only I can- With pen in hand Allow you to see That writer in me.
Not Just Words by LaNira Postell Writing is more than the materials that I use, It's more than just a product made from pencil and paper Writing is more than a mere arrangement and grouping of letters that are easy for me to understand These words are more than just sounds that are appealing to the mind, They hold meanings, captured by feelings, My feelings My heart enables me to feel, and it is the main headquarters Of all of the things that my eyes enable me to see, And the things my ears enable me to hear These things and all that my mind thinks, Has to submit to my heart And what is in my heart, I enable myself to write, Thus, English words are recorded because it is the language That I and those around me speak It is not the word itself that is important, But the emotions that were produced I could write in numbers as long as we all have a common understanding of their meanings Writing is a way of self expression That is created by using words.
Symphony #9 by Varnita L. Kennedy It's not a part of me. It's who I am. I am a writer. Given to write. Presented to compose the score of my life. I am to writing what Beethoven is to classical music. I am the definition of a masterpiece. My words personify my ability to demystify life. Through the assembly of each letter on a line, I take my time To present to you Symphony #9. Influenced by many, Created by one, Struggles too many, To count until the sun, Rises in the east and sets in the west. At your best You are words. Like notes on a bar, This is by far The inauguration of a beautiful marriage - Rhyme and Rhythm. Time and Tempo. Innuendo and Crescendo. Can you feel the beat ... Of my heart.
Beautiful Woman by Kahnia D. Kennedy Beautiful Woman so sweet so kind. The Spirit of the Lord lives in her heart and mind.
Full of wisdom, love, joy, and happiness. She puts out her gladness.
Beautiful Woman if only you could see That God has given you the power to be set free. Free from sin, free from doubt So that you can live holy, and with Him in your heart.
Beautiful Woman can't you see ... Yield not to temptation and be delivered and set free.
True worship is what you need. It starts at home indeed. By lifting up you hands and opening your mouth. And know that the Spirit of the Lord will come in you without a doubt.
Beautiful Woman your eyes have not seen The blessings God wants you to receive.
Beautiful Woman the true beauty that you see It's the Spirit of the Lord that lives in you. It guides, protects, loves, and saves. That's the true beauty given to you this day.
Just Another Poet by Sonyza M. Whiteside I'm not just another poet You see Let me tell you how this Could be God's Holy Spirit is flowing Through me I rarely write in and of my own Not me God is the author of me And everything you can see He has all dominion and control Give Him your life He'll make you whole Freedom from fear, frustration And doubt, is what He is all about Many seem strong in their Own right, but cower in His awesome sight He's given you the Power To help others Not to cower or bow to Satan's miniscule power Do you know of sin He's forgiven you So that on your journey, You can follow through Then, Reign with Him for ever more.
The Writer's Block by Amaris Jackson I tried to sit and write the words that spilled from my heart and my soul.
I tried to convey what you mean to me on a daily.
But I can't.
No matter if it comes from Webster, Thesaurus or Merriam there are no words adequate enough to explain the awesomeness of who you are.
From the moment I rise and the intake of breath the wonder of you invades my thoughts,
And I'm overwhelmed.
I can't find enough words in all the countries and every dialect of the world to begin
Blocked, stopped.
Thoughts cluttered just trying to find a start as I run into roadblocks, the pounding in my heart.
Beat; beat softly as I think of you.
Who you are and what you are is too much when I look at the insignificance of my existence.
I cry out hoping you hear the beating of my heart reaching out to touch the end of your robe to be held as I lay my head on your bosom.
You are Father, Friend, Lover and God.
Mighty, Counselor......All.
Twisted around to try and begin ... not enough to sink in my mind as I'm overtaken and I'm stuck because my words are not enough.
My actions must now step up.
Chapter Three
Endangered Species "Unique people who have a unique talent touch the hearts of people that are unusual to society." -Stylicia Bowden
Writers Are Real MC's Writers are real MC's because when they put their stuff on tracks
It is hot and I can feel that
They write about the real nothing watered down sometimes sexual so you can get that whip appeal
Sincere from the heart and real issues we sometimes tend to neglect
We just ask for respect when we step to the mic
The mic is our remedy to heal our wounds you cannot see
We are the new generation who dare to bring back a unique quality and sensation to this lyrical game
Do not be ashamed to express yourself
Spoken Word is the new Hip Hop
Teaching and preaching to reach your mind in a positive light
Not distorting the truth but bringing the real emotions behind our words
Our spoken word is our sword like the bible to cut you
Listen up and understand writers are real MC's forever with the mic in their hand.
Out Of The Box No matter the size
No matter what decorative accents you may adorn on the outside of it
There is no particular box you could put me in because I am always
Evolving,
Shifting,
And twisting to other levels of my life.
I do not believe in stagnation
So there can be no natural manifestation
My life is more than a 9 to 5 or 4 to 6
I have dreams that is bigger than this
The government job I had was not satisfying for me
I knew I needed more so God opened up a door
So I walked inside and have never been the same
In an instant my life changed
So no matter how cute the box may be there is no particular box big enough to fit me.
Dream Killer Notice (This is a message from the Emergency Broadcast System ... be on the look out for the rapist at large. His know name is dream killer and his motive is to steal, kill and destroy all your ambition and leave you dreamless.) Don't try to kill my dream because you are not ambitious enough to pursue your own.
Do not hate me because I do not only dream but I make things happen in my scene.
I just don't daydream I move to the next level of success that requires me to request God's best.
I walk with my head high knowing every door of prosperity God will open for me.
I cut all those off who do not want anything more than to be a leech
And suck up all my success.
Yeah, I am talking to you!
Who?
You know who?
You dream killer!
You go around raping people mentally perverting their dreams and then crush them.
I am here to let you know your dirty lies and scandalous ways will soon catch up with you.
You are what are,
I call a spade a spade
Dream killers are what they are so beware if you are trying to be a star.
Writer For Hire Show some love for a poet whether you think so or not writing is another form of art. We express and give out words of encouragement And stuff to make you think. Just because we are not getting paid what we deserve; Show us the respect that our art is intellect. Not deciphering the truth but making it plain as day. So why do we get passed up by society? Do not think poetry is all we do from songs to plays to articles. Our soul is full of writing material. So give us a chance to display our art, Do not be scared to take a risk because our writing is remedy. But so many of us starve because no one wants to take the time to take our art seriously. Writing is our passion but a passion can not continue to go on if we do not get the credit for what we are worth. We just want a chance to make some ends for what we truly love in the end.
