          Royal 8vo, (280 x 200mm), [41] p. Two wood engravings by Miriam Macgregor. The book was bound at the Fine Bindery in one quarter brown Oasis and Whittington printed paper-covered boards, gilt spine titling, headbands, top edge gilt, rust-brown Hahnenühle endpapers. Typeset in Goudy Modern and printed in black, the wood-engravings on the title in burnt-orange, on mould made paper on the Heidelberg press. Paper-covered slipcase, reinforced in brown buckram at the head and foot. A very fine unmarked copy in a very fine slipcase. Number XXVII of 50 copies, signed opposite the title-page by each of the nineteen contributors, with signed proofs of the two engravings in black on Zerkall cream wove paper (265 x 190 mm) in a pocket on the rear pastedown. There are sixteen poems (15 of them previously unpublished), and a prose piece by Laurie Lee. The poems and essays are contributed by Melvyn Bragg, Adrain Mitchell, U.A. Fanthorpe, D.J. Enright, Duncan Forbes, Michael Horovitz, John Fuller, Seamus Heaney, Ted Hughes, Jenny Joseph, Peter Levi, Peter Kavanagh, Brian Patten, Jon Stalllworthy, Jon Silken, Charles Tomlinson, Lawrence Sail and Michael Foot. This copy is additionally signed by Ted Hughes, who co-edited with Heaney 'The School Bag'. The ink signature appears beside the title of his contribution poem 'The Bear'. Brandes and Durkan B136b.
