Philip William Calvert

Dr. Philip W. Calvert is an ordained minister and was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Iceland from 1994 to 1995.

He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where he was a Morris Doctoral Fellow, in 1996. Dr. Calvert and his wife, Kristen, were appointed to the International Mission Board in 2003. They served on the mission field in Ecuador and Peru. During their ministry as missionaries, they served in various roles from church planting to being the Seminary Connector for Ecuador and Peru. Dr. Calvert continues to serve through the Disaster Relief ministry of Southern Baptists, most recently helping residents of Lahaina in the aftermath of the devastating Maui wildfire.

Dr. Calvert has taught at Gateway Seminary, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Arizona Christian University as an adjunct faculty member, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as an Assistant Professor of History at the College at Southwestern, and Truett-McConnell University as the Associate Professor of Missions and Associate Director of the World Missions Center.

His is the author of five books, the most recent being a fun children's book titled, "How to Say 'No!' to a Princes." His other books are four encouraging devotionals titled, "The Gift of Courage," "The Gift of Justice," "The Gift of Unity," and "The Gift of Prayer."

Dr. Calvert is a songwriter, with three internationally distributed songs, "Leaving Me in Pieces," "Going Broke Saving Money," and "One Boot Off." You can stream the songs on your favorite music platform, as well as YouTube.

Since 2012, Dr. Calvert has been the Senior Pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Casa Grande, Arizona. By God’s grace, and with a team of dedicated prayer warriors at Trinity and partnering churches, the Drive Thru Prayer ministry he envisioned many years ago continues to expand on its way to being in locations in all twenty-four time zones around the world.

Philip and Kristen have four children: Nathaniel, Benjamin, Rebekah Praise, and Abigail.
