Rhian Wright

Rhian is an artist, illustrator and picture book maker from Cardiff. She lives with her husband, two children and a very miserable cat called Margaret, all of whom frequently appear in her work.

As an illustrator, Rhian’s work is full of bright colour, fun details, cute characters, immersive settings and plenty of daft moments. As an author, she writes stories with a rhythmic, read-aloud quality, using playful language and humour. She loves telling imaginative stories with a hefty dose of magic. Fairytale characters, silly monsters and spooky creatures often feature. They usually come with an unexpected twist and a grounded magic that shows a real connection to home, family, play and everyday life.

Rhian enjoys creating characters full of curiosity, celebrating children’s creativity, confidence, problem-solving and joyful defiance, all within a safe and patient space. She also enjoys showing families in all their wonderful variety, helping children feel seen and encouraging empathy and emotional awareness.

Her books aim to help children develop a lifelong love of stories, embrace who they are, build confidence and, most importantly, have fun.
