A.M. Soliman

A. M. Soliman is a practicing trial attorney and the author of Brothers in Service and The Name She Carries.

Before turning to law, he was a journalist: a reporter on September 11, 2001, a columnist for The Record, a commentator on CNN and NPR, and the producer and director of the PBS documentary Born in the USA: Muslim Americans. His opinion writing earned a New Jersey Press Association award. He went on to serve as a judicial law clerk in the Superior Court of New Jersey, where he was certified as a court-trained mediator, and was appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Minority Concerns. He has spent his career in courtrooms — the same rooms where his fiction lives.

His novels draw on both halves of that life. Brothers in Service follows an Egyptian-American family across twenty-five years of American fear and devotion after 9/11. The Name She Carries is a courtroom drama about medicine, bias, and inheritance — about what gets written down, who gets believed, and the difference between carrying a name and earning it.

He lives and practices in New Jersey.
