Viking Press, New York. 1958. 206 pages. First edition, first printing. A signed and warmly inscribed presentation copy, by the author Alberta Hannum, on the front endpaper. This is the true story of Beatien Yazz, a young Navajo artist, who is also the book's illustrator, and whose work can be found in the Smithsonian, the Philbrook Museum of Art, the Southwest Museum of the American Indian, the Museum of New Mexico, amongst many others. This title picks up where Spin a Silver Dollar leaves off. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are sound. Book is about fine with minor pushing and rubbing at tips. $4.50 price intact on flap. Original DJ is about fine with minimal minor shelf-rubbing along edges and fold-tips. A touch of sun-darkening to spine. A tight, clean attractive copy of the first edition, first printing, in its original DJ, signed by the author, whose papers remain in residence, at West Virginia University, Morgantown. VG+/NF.
