That ended in 2005 when Hammons Field became the home of the Springfield Cardinals of the AA Texas League and once again the Queen city of the Ozarks was part of baseball's landscape. Has black and white photos of Heinie Mueller, Mike Ryba, Johnny Keane, Paul Dean, Eddie Dyer, plus the Springfield Stars who were one of the most successful all-black semi pro teams. Before the Cardinals came teams like the Midgets, Reds, and Merchants, and a rich tradition of professional and semi-pro baseball dating back to the mid-1880s.
