CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Nice matching set of the original publications. Light soiling, rubbing, and wear to edges. Interior hinges weak and cracked but holding; pencil note on rear endpaper of vol. I, else pages are clean. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Vol. 1 includes 12 papers; Vol. 2 has 14 papers. These War Papers are valuable personal accounts and narratives delivered by the active participants of the Massachusetts Commandery and others; both common soldiers and high-ranking officers. Numerous Dornbush references included in the individual papers. Attractive set. REFERENCE: Nevins I pg 131: On the state published MOLLUS Papers: "The more active of the various state commanders of this organization published volumes containing personal reminiscences of life in camp, battle and prison. The account vary widely in accuracy and quality; generally speaking however, these volumes can, and with considerable digging, yield useful nuggests.".
