1st edition dust jacket As New octavo x + 287pp., b/w plates, map, notes, index, U-864 was used by the Germans in an attempt to transfer technology to Japan. If successful this would have extended the Pacific war diverting Allied troops from Europe and allowing Hitler to regroup. It was eventually sunk by British submarine Venturer; the only recorded instance of a submarine being sunk by another submarine. Doubtful premise, but a good read.
