English-Persian dictionary prepared during the author's two-year residence in Persia, containing common English words and their modern Persian translations in Roman character. The work includes reference to grammar and constructions, along with commentary on the various meanings and synonyms of certain words. - The British army officer Lt.-Col. Douglas Craven Phillott (1860-1930) served in India and as Consul in Persia. He published many translations of literary and historical works as a scholar of Urdu, Persian, and Hindustani, as well as an English translation of a rare Persian treatise on falconry. - Hinges cracked; binding worn around corners.
