The manuscript reproduced in this facsimile edition is the unique Hebrew codex Or. 10013, which forms part of the Gaster collection of Hebrew and Samaritan manuscripts in the British Museum. It contains the commentaries on the tractates BABHA KAMMA BABHA MESI`A & BAHBA BHATHERA: of the Babylonian Talmud by Zachariah ben Judah Aghmati, a contemporary of Moses ben Maimon in the 12th century. The author has collected the Halakhic opinions of the great Talmudic authorities and excerpted the more important contributions from various sources. His extensive quotations from Geonic and later Halkhic literature have preserved for aus large parts of Rabbinic writings now lost or existing only in fragmentary form. The work is also valuable for some of its textual variants of the Talmud to which the author occasionally draws attention. Its publication represents a significant contribution to Rabbinic literature and Talmuldic scholarship.
