The author, an internist, rheumatologist, and basic researcher in psychoneuroimmunology, shows connections between adverse childhood experiences and typical adult sequelae. He heads the Laboratory of Experimental Rheumatology and Neuroendocrine Immunology, Department of Internal Medicine, at the University Hospital Regensburg.
