Rhead's rare, privately printed, and ephemeral work, offering a synthesis of Halford and the anglophile American dry fly authors (Gill and La Branche), specifically addressed to an American audience. His American Trout Stream Insects (1916) is regarded as the first on the subject "Rhead was a better artist than Schaldach, and in fact was an all-round expert at many things.
