The author was a member of the Academie Francaise and brings both a studied eye to the and a schoolboys enthusiam to the discoveries and mysteries of the east. Written as a series of journal entires. Translated by Catherine Barker. White wrappers stained and torn at backstrip, but else in quite nice condition. Hinges strong and all pages firmly attached. A good+ copy of relatively scarce book.
