36 pp. 8vo, original flexible cloth wrappers, a.e.g. First edition. A bit loose in the binding, but a nice copy. Appleton (1779-1861) invested $5,000 in Frank Lowell's powermill at Waltham in 1813. He and his associates were so successful that they purchased water rights on the Merrimac River and established the industrial city of Lowell.
