Rare signed by author book in two places, firstly in letter to binders dated 1888 asking for errata to be bound into this special copy for the Williams Library and secondly after the errata. Both items bound into this copy after the title page. Covers well worn with loss of colour and leather worn through on corners and edges. Title and library numbers in gilt to spine, no further library marks. 467 pages slightly but evenly tanned. All fold out maps present. Bound pages all secure but covers are starting to split on spine edges. Further signature to fep dated 1952 by Richard F Connell of Harvard College. I fine rare signed book worthy of slight restoration.
