First edition of part III, the section edited by Swift, with the fourth and third editions of parts I and II: the preface, 'The Publisher to the Reader', in part III is from Swift's hand. Temple's essay 'Upon Ancient and Modern Learning', in part II, was the spark that lit the whole ancients vs moderns controversy. Teerink-Scouten 473.
