Descrizione dell’articolo da parte del venditore

First Edition (1994) , so stated. First Printing indicated by a complete numerical sequence. Very Good+ in Near Fine DJ: The Book shows faint but pervasive foxing to the outside edges of the text block; a very mild nudge to the lower rear corner tip; the binding leans slightly but remains secure; the text is clean. Free of any creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tighly bound, showing minor, unobtrusive imperfections. Not far from 'As New'. The DJ shows a small, very mild patch of wrinkling at the lower corner tips; else flawless; the price is unclipped. Close to 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.5 x 6.5 x 1 inches) . Yiddish Glossary. Language: English. Weight: 21 ounces. Family-portrait-decorated end papers. Deckle fore-edge. Hardback with DJ. Henry Roth (1906 1995) was an American novelist and short story writer who found long-deserved recognition after his 1934 work, Call It Sleep, a classic novel reflecting the lives of Jewish immigrants on the lower east side in the early part of the twentieth century, was reissued in paperback in 1964. Mercy of a Rude Stream tells the story of Ira Stigman, an immigrant boy, suffers a cruel Americanization process from 1914 through 1921 in a novel that deals with themes of Prohibition, anti-Semitism, racism, and the violence of sexuality. The title comes from a Shakespearean quotation which characterizes life as a 'tumultuous rude stream'. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 288 pages.
