A first impression of the true first edition of this anthology of short stories by leading writers of the 1930s. The book was published as No. 75 in Jonathan Cape's 'Florin Books' series, published at two shillings (2/-) or a Florin. ***Near fine in textured oatmeal cloth-covered boards with brown titles to the spine and front board. The boards are clean and unmarked. No creases or bumps. Corners sharp. Very slight reading lean to the binding, but no reading creases to the spine. Page block edges clean. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions. The paper used is quite thin, but there is virtually no creasing. Pages clean. No creases or tears. ***In a very good printed dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of 2s. net. The dustwrapper is complete, with just some light edge wear at the top edge. There is some light creasing also to the top edges and a small closed tear at the top edge of the back panel near the foldover flap. No chips and no serious creases or tears. The spine colour remains unfaded - just slightly browned.
