Original green cloth, gilt lettered on the front, 93 pages, lacking the folding map inserted in the back. First edition, Howes, W321: "First official exploration of this area, including the Mojave and Death Valley" With the printed presentation plate of George M. Wheeler, signed, dated August 18, 1876, on the front pastedown. The binding very worn but holding, the paper browned, light foxing on the endpapers. A former owner tried to remove the presentation plate, quit after removing about 12% of it. A poor copy.
