B. H. V. Topping is a professor of computational mechanics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is also the editor of Advances in Engineering Software and the International Journal of Computers & Structures. C. A. Mota Soares is a professor of solids and structural mechanics at the Technical University of Lisbon.
