TWO volume SET of the 1st two issues of the Journal of the Association of Sports Historians - each a trade paperback original in fine condition. Each volume is loaded with historical, cultural & academic articles covering most sports & all aspects of sports in general. Other regular features include "resources" listings, book reviews & more. SPORTING HERITAGE Number 1 - the 1st annual journal, was published in late 1995 - shortly after the founding of the Association in 1994. It includes articles on rugby to 1895; "The Cold War and the Evolution of a Sports Consciousness in the United States" and "study guides" to "The Literature of the Body" and "Football Hooliganism" - among other articles & features. ONE DAY IN LEICESTER includes papers presented at the 1996 Convention, including "The Economics of the Warwickshire County Cricket Club 1894-1914", "Creating a Football Museum", "European-born Major League Players and Managers" (in baseball), among others. In addition to the 2 journals, this lot also includes 5 different issues of the Association of Sports Historians Newsletter (Oct & Dec, 1995; March, May & July, 1996), each in fine (as new) condition. These booklets (approx. 15 pages ea.) are full of "news and notes" about the Association & its members, miscellaneous articles, research requests & other interesting information.
