First editions (1917 and 1921) of Singer's influential publication, with 91 full-page plates and numerous illustrations in text ---- William Albert Setchell set, with the "Studies" editor Charles Singer's University of California colleague and noted botanist's ownership stamp on the front free endpaper. Also present is the ownership signature of Setchell's colleague Herbert McLean Evans, the American anatomist and physiologist, who discovered vitamin E in 1923. A unique association.
