Mariano Azuela (1873-1952) first published this novel about the Mexican Revolution in 1915. Based upon his service with Pancho Villa, it became one of his most famous works. This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the First American Edition. An uncommon to scarce title. Translated from the original Spanish by E. Munguia, Jr. (although there is some controversy here, with suggestions that it actually had been done by Anita Brenner; there have been subsequent editions with different translators). Gray cloth binding with gilt titling on the front cover. The spine has faded to a light brown and the lettering appears to be black. Clean text; xviii, 225 pages. Illustrated with drawings by Jose Clemente Orozco. The corners are bumped to a bit of fray, with the same situation at the head and foot of the spine. Lacking a dustjacket; in an archival plastic protector. A solid, if unspectacular, copy. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Codice articolo 004845
