Bound by J.B Hawes of Cambridge in full tree calf bordered with a vine-like gilt roll; backstrips richly tooled in gilt and with red and green gilt-lettered labels, blind-tooled turn-ins, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt. Backstrips lightly rubbed, endpapers a little spotted, overall a very attractive set. Armorial bookplate of F.L. James. in each vol. § A handsome set of the great Jacobin playwright Thomas Middleton, first edition thus, edited by the Scottish literary historian Alexander Dyce (1798 1869).
