NON-authorial gift inscription ("Liebe Nina! / Vielen Dank fur Deine Liebe Hilfe . . .") dated 1993 to otherwise blank FFE. "The Regatta Mystery" is actually a series of short stories first collected and published in the U.S. by Dodd, Mead in 1939, though they all were originally published in periodicals from 1932 to 1937. Although the original version of "The Regatta Mystery" itself featured Hercule Poirot, the story was later rewritten by Christie to change the detective from Poirot to Parker Pyne for book publication, and all collections in both the U.S. and the U.K. are reported to contain the Pyne version of the story. The original Poirot version appeared in the May 3, 1936 edition of the Hartford Courant, and surfaced again in 2008 as part of the three-volume Harper collection "Agatha Christie: The Complete Short Stories -- Masterpieces in Miniature." (The story appears as the postscript to the Poirot volume.) "Destination Unknown" was originally published in 1954, and is one of five Christie novels believed never to have been adapted for stage or screen. Copyright page here cites numerous copyright dates from 1923 to 1955, but jacket rear flap mentions author Christie "starb 1976 in Alter von 85 Jahren," so this small 8vo in handsome glossy jacket with colorized film still to front panel is obviously fairly recent -- the 1993 gift inscription date is probably as likely a print date as any. We have been unable to trace the image of woman holding revolver on jacket front panel to any specific Christie-related film.
