Rafael Antonio Caldera Rodríguez was a Venezuelan politician and academician who was the 46th and 51st president of Venezuela from 1969 to 1974 and again from 1994 to 1999, thus becoming the longest serving democratically elected politician to govern the country in the twentieth century. International Social Justice and Latin American Nationalism is an essay by the former President of Venezuela, offering a statesman's perspective on the interplay between global justice and regional identity. Written with the authority of both political experience and intellectual reflection, the book examines how Latin American nations have attempted to reconcile their pursuit of sovereignty and cultural authenticity with the structural pressures of international systems largely shaped by dominant powers. Through critical essays, historical interpretation, and personal insight, the author analyzes enduring challenges such as economic dependency, social inequality, and the role of nationalism in forging projects of collective justice. At the same time, he underscores the opportunities for Latin America to engage with broader principles of solidarity and cooperation on the world stage. This work provides both a rigorous analysis and a visionary outlook on the place of Latin America within the global struggle for justice.
