Prima edizione
Drawings by Lois and Louis Darling (illustratore). First Edition. Carson was inspired to research and write this landmark work when people noticed an absence of birds in farming areas of Massachusetts. "Silent Spring" exposed the environmental and health dangers of indiscriminate pesticide use, particularly DDT, and launched the modern environmental movement and significant policy changes in the United States. Very good in a good dust jacket. Bound in dark green cloth over boards with spine and upper board titled in gilt, green patterned endpapers. A few slight extremity rubs, diagonal crease to corner of leaf 9/10 inside, else fine. Jacket has a 1" chip at top of upper joint fold, another at top of lower joint fold, minor edge rubs and a few short closed edge tears. A handsome copy overall. Hardcover. Octavo. (xvi), 368 pages.
