The theoretical framework of the study included reviewing the previous studies related to the present one. It also included a theoretical study of the main topics related to multiple intelligences theory and English language speaking skills.The instruments of the study included a Checklist of the required speaking skills which should be developed for the first preparatory grade pupils, An Observation Sheet for measuring the speaking skills, A Pre-Post Speaking Test, and Teacher's Guide for the subject developed by the researcher, depending on MI theory. The subjects of the present study were 80 first year preparatory pupils who were randomly selected and assigned into two groups of the study. Results showed that using MI- based program was effective in developing the experimental group speaking skills. 432 pp. Englisch.

The portfolio program was administered to the experimental group in the first term of the academic year 2006-2007 at Al-Arich Faculty of Education. Results showed that the portfolio program was effective in developing the experimental group vocabulary and self assessment skills. Analyzing student' portfolio entries showed improvement of students performance .Moreover, the results of the PESQ showed a great deal of satisfaction among students regarding the use of portfolios. Generally, Students felt that the portfolio program was useful and valid. Recommendations and suggestions for further studies were provided. 364 pp. Englisch.
