With the original leaf loosely inserted in a pocket at the rear. The leaf has some minor dampstaining along the edges not affecting the text, else a fine leaf with an 'I' calligraphed in blue. The book is in fine condition. A proposition is set forth that the Reissinger edition of St. Jerome's letters was the first book printed in Rome. Printed by Patrick Reagh. Reissinger set up his printing firm in 1466, about the time that Sweynheim and Pannartz left Subiaco and moved to Rome. It is certainly from a very early Roman incunable, and the editio princeps of the Letters of St. Jerome, a pivotal book in the Western canon. vellum spine, marbled paper over boards by Kater-Crafts Bookbinders.
